Art Teacher

Job Description: We are looking for a passionate and creative Art Teacher for Junior High School (SMP) to guide and inspire students through engaging visual and cultural arts education. The teacher will be responsible for delivering lessons that combine hands-on creativity with an understanding of both traditional and modern art forms, aligned with the Indonesian National Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka or K13).

This role requires someone who can balance artistic expression with curriculum goals, fostering both skills and appreciation for the arts among adolescent learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Visual and Cultural Arts to students in Grades 7 to 9 (SMP level), based on the National Curriculum or Merdeka Curriculum.

• Prepare detailed lesson plans that include art theory, history, and practice, tailored to junior high school developmental stages.

• Instruct students in various artistic techniques: drawing, painting, mixed media, crafts, and elements of cultural arts (e.g., traditional Indonesian motifs, wayang, batik).

• Promote critical thinking and creativity through classroom projects and discussions.

• Organize student art exhibitions, performances, or collaborative projects that showcase student work.

• Maintain a well-managed and inspiring art room or studio.

• Evaluate student progress through practical and theoretical assessments.

• Collaborate with other teachers on school-wide events and interdisciplinary projects.

• Encourage student participation in competitions, school performances, or cultural showcases.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Cultural Arts, or a closely related field.

• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience at the junior high school level.

• Strong understanding of adolescent learning and artistic development.

• Familiar with Kurikulum Merdeka or 2013 Curriculum and its arts components.

• Proficient in using digital tools for teaching (e.g., projectors, basic graphic design tools, Google Workspace).
